Currently, the home pages are laid out like the Plone pages would be. In the final site, we would recommend creating a more colorful splash page, similar to this.

  • The District Plone Site has a skeleton waiting for final content by the district
  • The Willow Creek Plone Site is getting a skeleton for their existing content
  • The other two Sites will be copies of the Willow Creek site, skinned with their school colors

All links are blue text, with same roll over behavior as the menu.

Next Step: Training and District Edit

  • It's time for District personnel to complete editing the site text:
  • Edit the text content from the old site (which I have already copied, formatted and placed on http://64.142.124.130:8080/smc/district)
  • Move this text to the correct pages.
  • Training Monday, Dec 12 from 10:30 to Noon.

Call for More Digital Photos

  • It would also be great to add many more digital photos to the library, so District personnel could select pictures for the site's pages. Would it make sense for teachers to bring all of their digital photos and signed releases to the district office on a scheduled day, so the photos could be downloaded into one library?
  • Once I get the pictures, I can pick the best, improve the contrast, and automate the creation of the std. sizes.
  • I already processed nine digital photos that I was given and placed them at:
  • It would be best to standardize on the width of images posted on the web site (the heights can vary, but the width should remain consistent).
  • The images you see here are 360 pixels wide. I would recommend the following std. sizes:
    • Large 480 pixels wide
    • Medium 320 pixels wide
    • Small 160 pixels wide (fits in the khaki column to the right)

  • Finally, we need to decide on the URL structure for the sites.
  • As you know. . . http://www.sausalitomarincityschooldistrict.org/ is a long one to type.
  • Now imagine the following. . .

    • http://www.sausalitomarincityschooldistrict.org/willowcreekacademy/

  • For consistency (and ease of typing) we could register the following domains which are all available:
    • http://www.bayside-elementary.org/
    • http://www.mlk-academy.org/
    • http://www.willowcreek-academy.org/
  • Each domain would cost roughly $8.00 per year at goddaddy.com.I could host all four domains on my server at Sonic.net.
